Watch ou new video "Normand Drott as a real demonstration platform for the NEMOSHIP Project"

The decarbonisation of maritime transport requires innovative solutions that can improve energy efficiency while maintaining high operational performance.
Within the NEMOSHIP project, the offshore vessel Normand Drott, operated by Solstad, serves as a demonstration plateform to asses the benefits of hybrid propulsion and battery energy storage technologies.
Following the installation of a 1.1 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (with high energy and high power units), the vessel benefits from improved operational flexibility. Acting as a spinning reserve, the battery helps optimize generator operation, smooth power fluctuations through peak shaving, reduce fuel consumption, lower emissions and decrease engine wear and provide boost power if needed.
The video also highlights the complex integration of the battery system onboard and explains how future NEMOSHIP digital monitoring/control tools are expected to provide deeper insights into vessel operations and support further efficiency and battery lifetime improvements.
