Siemens showcases NEMOSHIP project at FES 2025 Conference in Romania
From 23 to 26 September 2025, Siemens took part in the FES 2025 – Future Energy Solutions Conference in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The event gathered international experts, researchers, and industry leaders to explore innovative approaches to the global energy transition.
At its booth, Siemens presented several initiatives in the field of clean energy and digital innovation. A key highlight was the NEMOSHIP project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe program. This project aims to develop new solutions for sustainable maritime propulsion, contributing to lower emissions and improved operational efficiency in shipping.
As part of the scientific program, Siemens experts presented the paper “Battery Solutions and Aging Process Simulation for Maritime Electric Propulsion”. The study focuses on the aging of batteries used in hybrid and electric vessels. Using Simcenter Amesim, the research simulates how batteries degrade over time (capacity loss and internal resistance increase) and how these factors impact ship performance.
By better understanding these mechanisms, Siemens contributes to increasing the efficiency of electric propulsion systems, ensuring their reliability, and advancing the decarbonization of maritime transport in line with International Maritime Organization (IMO) objectives.
The FES 2025 conference was an excellent platform for Siemens to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and reinforce our commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable energy solutions for the future.
