On January 29th, 2026, the European project NEMOSHIP organised its first public event dedicated to the decarbonisation of maritime transport through large battery systems and intelligent control solutions.

Held in a hybrid format, both in Grenoble (Village by CA) and online, the event gathered a wide audience of industrial, academic and institutional stakeholders engaged in the energy transition of the maritime sector.

Leading experts from research centres, industry, shipowners and SMEs – CEA, Corvus Energy, Solstad, Ponant, SDI, Cidetec, Elkon and Siemens – shared their experience and insights on three key topics:

• Battery safety and design of large marine battery systems

• Lessons learned from our demonstration vessels

• Innovative control solutions for hybrid vessels to optimise battery usage, extend lifetime and reduce CO₂ emissions

The event provided an opportunity to showcase the project’s latest developments and to foster discussions with the maritime ecosystem on the technical and operational challenges of hybrid and full-electric vessels.
