Decarbonizing shipping will not rely on a single breakthrough, but on the smart integration of electrification, energy storage and digital technologies.

The NEMOSHIP project explores this approach using, among others, the hybrid polar vessel “Le Commandant Charco”, operated by Ponant, as a real operational platform.

Equipped with a 4,5 MWh battery system, the vessel can supply additional power during short high demand phases such as ice navigation, avoiding the need to start additional diesel generators.

Combined with the newly developped NEMOSHIP digital energy management platform integrating real-time ship data, the project aims to imrpove energy efficiency and reduce emissions.
